A tragic car accident on Suitland Parkway has claimed the life of a Waldorf, Maryland resident, Darwin Thomas, 53. According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the collision occurred on the eastbound lanes just east of the Stanton Road, Southeast intersection around 4:54 p.m., Friday, February 6, 2026.
The MPD’s Major Crash Investigations Unit reported that Seventh District officers discovered two individuals within a 2006 Acura TL with injuries following the crash. The Acura, for reasons still under investigation, departed its westbound course, mounting the median and colliding with a traffic pole before entering the eastbound lanes and hitting a 2014 Honda CRV. The Honda driver was found unharmed at the scene.
Emergency response from DC Fire and EMS transported the injured Acura driver to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Despite exhaustive efforts by medical personnel, the passenger of the Acura, Thomas, was pronounced dead following the incident. His identification was released by the authorities in a public statement.
