Raleigh residents can expect to quickly shake off the morning chill as the National Weather Service predicts partly sunny skies with a high near 55 degrees on Washington's Birthday. Moving into tonight, the forecast suggests patchy fog after 3am with partly cloudy conditions yielding a low around 36 degrees. For the daily commuters and early risers, patchy fog might obscure the roads before 10am tomorrow, but the fog is set to give way to mostly sunny skies and a pleasant high near 63.
The remainder of the week hints at a gradual warmup, according to the National Weather Service. Wednesday will bring cloudy skies and a high near 69, while the wind, coming in from the southwest at 8 to 16 mph, could hit gusts as high as 28 mph. The nighttime maintains mostly cloudy conditions, with the temperature settling around 54 degrees. A chance of rain might to disrupt plans on Thursday, though temperatures are expected to stay warm with highs approaching 72 degrees and a 30% chance of precipitation.
Rolling into the weekend, Friday also promises a chance of rain with a 50% chance of precipitation and continued warm temperatures as highs surge near 74. For those planning late-night outings, there's a 30% chance of rain after 1am, with the skies mostly cloudy and lows dipping to around 53 degrees. Saturday and Sunday keep up the trend of potential rain, showing a 50% chance of wet weather, with highs hovering near 67 and 56, respectively.
The weather outlook, while not posing significant threats, does prompt attention with patchy fog creating potential visibility issues. "Patchy fog is possible late tonight through early tomorrow morning across all of central NC. Areas of dense fog may be possible at times especially across the western/southern Piedmont during this time," cautions the Hazardous Weather Outlook issued by the National Weather Service. Spotters, though not expected to fulfill an active role, will remain a potential resource should weather conditions shift and necessitate observation.
