The Waukesha Police Department shared guidance on how to handle car accidents following a rise in local collisions. In Waukesha Police Department's Facebook post, they outlined steps to ensure safety and proper documentation.
Drivers should first check for injuries and call 911 if anyone is hurt or if there is significant damage. If safe, move vehicles out of traffic and use hazard lights.
Motorists are advised to exchange names, contact information, driver’s license numbers, license plates, and insurance details with the other party. Taking photos of vehicle damage, the roadway, and traffic signs is recommended for evidence.
Once authorities arrive, follow their instructions, and contact your insurance company promptly to begin the claims process. The Waukesha Police Department emphasized that they are available to assist when needed.
