Two drivers were killed last Friday in a violent head-on collision on Ann Arbor-Saline Road near Bluegrass Lane in Lodi Township, rattling a stretch of two-lane blacktop already on local safety radar.
The victims, a Newport woman and a Saline man, were both 58 years old and were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in one of the vehicles suffered serious but non-fatal injuries and was taken to a hospital, according to local authorities. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
FOX 2 Detroit reports the collision happened at about 4 p.m. and involved two vehicles that struck head-on. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office Secondary Road Patrol Traffic Services Unit is leading the investigation and has not released additional details.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from that stretch of Ann Arbor-Saline Road around 4 p.m. Friday is asked to contact the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, which lists non-emergency contact details on its official site.
Investigators are expected to analyze vehicle damage, skid marks and witness statements to piece together what led to the head-on impact, officials said. This story will be updated as the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office releases more information.
