A fire that broke out on the exterior of a building along the 700 block of Galer Street near Aurora Avenue North on Tuesday did not get far, thanks to a quick hit from Seattle firefighters.
Crews knocked down the bulk of the flames on the outside of the structure, and officials said the fire never made it inside the building.
According to the Seattle Fire Department, the updated address for the incident was the 700 block of Galer Street, where “fire is under control and did not extend into the building.” The department’s initial social media post did not include any details on the cause of the blaze or possible injuries.
In a reply to that update, Seattle Fire added that firefighters “knocked down the majority of the exterior fire” at Aurora Avenue North and Galer Street. The posts indicated crews kept the flames confined to exterior materials, although the department has not yet released a full rundown of the response.
Response And Local Impact
For a while, the department’s social media feed was just about the only window into what was happening on Galer Street. City incident logs also tracked units working in the area as the response unfolded.
