According to the LA County Sheriffs, deputies were dispatched to the 14000 block at about 12:17 a.m., and the department’s Homicide Bureau, led by Lieutenant Michael Modica, responded to take over the case. The post states that investigators found a single adult male who was pronounced deceased at the scene, and that the suspect is unknown. Detectives are asking anyone who may have seen or heard anything to contact the department.
The 14000 block sits next to T. Mayne Thompson Park, where an August 2025 shooting on the same stretch was reported by MyNewsLA, and Hoodline also covered that fatal incident near the park fields. Those earlier stories noted a heavy sheriff's presence during investigations and highlighted community concern about safety along the park corridor. The recurrence of serious incidents in this area has kept residents and local officials focused on public safety responses.
Investigators Seek Tips
The LASD reiterated that anyone with information should call the Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500 or submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477, according to the department’s post. Lieutenant Michael Modica is listed as the lead investigator on the case, officials said. So far, deputies have not released a motive or a suspect description.
The investigation remains active, and further details will be released by the sheriff’s department as they become available. This story will be updated as officials provide more information.
