Boston police are asking Dorchester residents to help track down a woman they say pulled a knife inside a neighborhood shop on Blue Hill Avenue earlier this month, threatened customers and walked out with stolen goods.
Officers were called to the scene around 8 p.m. on March 4 after a report of a person armed with a knife. According to police, the woman came into the store, swung the knife at customers and took merchandise before leaving. At one point, she allegedly pointed the blade at a customer and warned that she would stab him if he came any closer.
How police say she looked
Investigators have released a physical description and are asking for the public’s help in putting a name to the suspect, as reported by WHDH. She is described as a Black woman, about 5 feet 6 inches tall, with a thin build. At the time of the robbery, she was reportedly wearing a blonde wig, gray jacket, pink sweater, black pants and gray boots.
Anyone who thinks they recognize the description, or who was in the area at the time, is urged to contact District B-2 Detectives at (617) 343-4275. Community members who want to stay out of the spotlight can also send in anonymous tips through the Boston Police CrimeStoppers hotline or online form, according to the Boston Police Department.
Blue Hill Avenue’s recent string of armed incidents
The robbery adds to a run of unnerving episodes on and around Blue Hill Avenue in recent months. In August, a suspect reportedly pulled an armed robbery at a CVS and took off with several boxes of ice cream, per Boston.com. Then in November, an attempted carjacking tied to a convenience-store robbery raised tensions again.
Those earlier incidents have already put local merchants on edge. Now, detectives working this latest case are again asking residents to check any door‑bell cameras, dashcams or business security systems for clips that might have captured the suspect coming or going. Even brief snippets of video can give investigators the break they need, officials say.
