Chicago police are asking riders to step up and help after a passenger was struck and robbed on a CTA Blue Line train near the Damen stop earlier this month. The victim was attacked on board and had personal property taken, and detectives say the case is still very much active. Investigators have released a description of one person of interest and are urging anyone who recognizes him to get in touch. So far, no arrests have been announced.
According to FOX 32 Chicago, the incident happened on March 2 at about 10:50 p.m. in the 400 block of South Damen Avenue. Police say a group approached a passenger on a Blue Line train at the Damen stop, struck him, then grabbed his personal property before taking off. Detectives described one person involved as a Black male between 17 and 25 years old and released images in hopes someone in the community recognizes him.
How to help investigators
Anyone with information is asked to call Public Transportation Detectives at 312-745-4447 or submit an anonymous tip at CPDTIP.com using reference number JK167709. Local reporting notes that the Mass Transit unit regularly fields tips through that phone line and the P3 portal as detectives chase down leads, and CBS Chicago has repeatedly highlighted those channels in coverage of CTA-related investigations.
Transit safety and recent alerts
Robberies and strong-arm attacks on CTA trains and platforms have led to multiple community alerts this winter, with police frequently circulating surveillance photos as they try to identify suspects. As reported by ABC7 Chicago, officers continue to urge riders to stay alert on trains and platforms and to share any video or information that might help detectives close cases like this one.
