A brutal midday attack on Morris Park Avenue left a 22-year-old man bleeding from the head and sent NYPD detectives scrambling to track down a metal rod–wielding assailant who sped off in a silver SUV.
Police say it unfolded in front of 680 Morris Park Ave in the Van Nest section of the Bronx, when a man jumped out of a silver Volvo SUV, sprinted toward the 22-year-old and struck him multiple times in the head with a metal rod. The blows left the victim with a laceration that required hospital treatment.
Emergency Medical Services rushed the wounded man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he is expected to recover, according to police. The attacker ran back to the waiting Volvo and took off before officers arrived. He remains on the loose.
The suspect was last seen wearing a brown jacket, gray pants and brown boots. Anyone with information is urged to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), as reported by News 12 New York.
