A quiet Brunswick neighborhood has become the center of a homicide investigation after a 72-year-old man who was assaulted last Tuesday died this week, according to Glynn County police. Officers were called to the Abbott Avenue area around 8:21 p.m., where they found the victim unconscious. He was taken to a hospital in Brunswick for treatment, but did not survive.
According to News4JAX, the victim was identified as 72-year-old Robert Yawn. Glynn County Fire Rescue took Yawn to the Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick campus, where he later died.
Police Ask Public For Help
The Glynn County Police Department announced on Facebook that "This is now an active homicide investigation" and urged residents to speak up if they know anything about what happened on Abbott Avenue. The department is asking anyone with information to call its non-emergency line at (912) 554-3645 or submit tips anonymously through Silent Witness at (912) 264-1333, as listed on the Glynn County Police Department contact page.
