Chicago-born Portillo's is finally planting a full-size flag inside Dallas city limits, with a Galleria-area restaurant planned just north of the mall near the intersection of Dallas Parkway and Spring Valley Road. The spot joins the chain’s growing North Texas roster and arrives as Portillo’s also prepares a compact airport outpost at DFW. Fans can expect the usual lineup of Italian beef sandwiches, Chicago-style hot dogs and that signature chocolate cake.
Galleria location details
Portillo’s lists the new restaurant as “Portillo’s North Dallas - Coming Soon!” at 13904 Dallas Parkway, according to Portillo’s. WFAA reports the Galleria-area restaurant is expected to seat about 120 guests inside, with room for roughly 40 more on the patio. The company has not announced a firm opening date.
What the space will include
State project filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation indicate the Galleria Portillo’s will cover roughly 6,250 square feet and feature both interior and exterior patio dining along with a drive-through, according to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. Those records list an estimated project cost of about $4.5 million and show the inspection status as “Inspection Complete.”
Growth and growing pains
Portillo’s has been expanding quickly across Texas, opening multiple D-FW restaurants since 2023 and drawing local coverage of its rollout, per The Dallas Morning News. Industry observers have also noted that same-store sales cooled after the rapid push and that the company planned to slow new openings to focus on operations, according to QSR Magazine.
Airport and regional plans
Portillo’s says its first airport location will open inside Terminal B at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, using a smaller dine-in format with multiple ordering touchpoints and a grab-and-go area, according to Portillo’s. The chain also opened a Tanger Outlets Fort Worth location earlier this year and has been testing a “Restaurant of the Future” layout across North Texas, per Community Impact.
Local construction records and job listings suggest the Galleria build is well along: state project filings show the registration and a completed inspection, and hiring sites like Indeed list openings tied to the Dallas Parkway address. A firm opening date has not yet been posted publicly.
