Coldwater’s own Rooster Joe Coffee is getting ready to pour a second act, this time in downtown Versailles, with a new café planned for the town’s former firehouse at 39 S Center Street. The spot will not just sling espresso, it will also showcase merchandise from local clothing brand Made Apparel under the same historic roof.
What the owners announced
Owners Joe and Michelle McClurg revealed the expansion in a social media post, sharing photos as crews started demolition in the old station last week. They summed up their first walk-through of the building with a simple hook: “The first time we walked into this building, we knew it had something special about it.”
As WhatNow reported, the Versailles shop is planned as a dual coffee-and-retail location, pairing Rooster Joe’s drink lineup with apparel from Made Apparel. An exact opening date is not on the calendar yet.
Rooster Joe first opened in 2019 at 300 W Sycamore Street in Coldwater and has since built a loyal local crowd on espresso drinks, seasonal specials and housemade food. The café’s website lists its Coldwater address along with social links for updates and contact info, and the owners say they will keep posting progress from Versailles as the build-out moves along. Where the new shop will sit
The address at 39 S Center Street lines up with local property records and commercial listings that identify the former Versailles firehouse at that location, putting the project a short block off Main Street near other downtown businesses. The building appears on commercial listing platforms including LoopNet, which shows photos and basic details on the structure.
What to watch for next
Demolition has already started inside the old firehouse, and the Rooster Joe team says they will keep sharing build-out updates on Instagram and Facebook as plans take shape. Until a formal opening date is announced, customers in Coldwater, Versailles and nearby towns will have to do what coffee fans do best: stay tuned and stay caffeinated.
As WhatNow notes, the Versailles location is designed to bring coffee and local retail together in one spot, with final menus and operating hours to be confirmed closer to opening.
