Coors Field is about to smell a lot more like fried chicken. Denver-born chain Birdcall is making its ballpark debut for the Colorado Rockies’ home opener, setting up a mezzanine stand near Section 204 in right field to sling its signature chicken sandwiches and Loaded Tots. The new stand is set to open when the Rockies host the Philadelphia Phillies for the season-opening series, adding another hometown flavor to the concourse just in time for first pitch.
The Rockies list Friday, April 3, as Opening Day at Coors Field against Philadelphia on their official schedule, and MLB.com shows the home slate kicking off that day with a series versus the Phillies.
In a press release shared via KDVR, the Rockies confirmed that the Birdcall stand will sit on the mezzanine level near Section 204 in right field and will be open for the home opener. Colorado Rockies corporate partnerships VP Nate Vanderwal called bringing Birdcall to Coors Field “a great way to connect our fans with one of Colorado’s standout local brands,” while Birdcall CEO Mark Lohmann described opening at the stadium as “an incredible moment for Birdcall.”
Birdcall already in big venues
Birdcall has been quietly turning up at major venues in recent seasons, rolling out a slimmed-down menu at spots like Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Empower Field. The Denver Gazette highlighted Birdcall’s Red Rocks debut as a key step in the brand’s move beyond traditional brick-and-mortar restaurants.
What they will be serving
Fans lining up on the mezzanine can expect Birdcall’s greatest hits on the Coors Field menu: original and Nashville hot chicken sandwiches, original and Nashville hot tenders, gluten-free nuggets, classic tots and fully Loaded Tots piled with queso, bacon and pickled jalapeños. Those same items show up across the company’s venue announcements and menu descriptions, and Birdcall press materials describe an identical lineup at other large venues.
What this means for fans and the brand
The Coors Field setup is part of a larger growth push for Birdcall, which has signed multi-unit franchise deals and is zeroing in on suburban expansion along the I-470 corridor. That recent wave of deals, including five new spots along Denver’s 470 strip, has been closely watched as the chain prepares for more openings in Colorado and beyond, as per Hoodline.
Fans headed to Opening Day can review game times and Coors Field policies on MLB.com before making the trip downtown. Birdcall’s new stand will be posted on the right-field mezzanine near Section 204 at 2001 Blake Street in Denver.
