Relatives say a late-night confrontation inside a Wilkinsburg home turned terrifying on Friday, when a woman allegedly tried to stab her mother and then cut her sister. Family members managed to wrestle away the knife on Graham Boulevard before officers arrived and took the woman into custody. Authorities say she was later transported for evaluation and is now facing felony charges.
What police say
As reported by WTAE, the mother told officers she woke up to her daughter entering the bedroom, staring at her, and then trying to stab her, prompting the mother to call 911. According to the criminal complaint, officers were inside the home moments later. The suspect, identified as Aniyia Goudy, initially denied having any knives and appeared calm, the complaint states.
Investigators say that changed quickly. Goudy allegedly lunged at her sister, aiming for an eye, but instead cut the left side of her sister’s face before relatives again intervened and pulled the knife away, according to the complaint cited by WTAE.
A borough stretched thin
Wilkinsburg’s small police force has been under strain, a union representative told WPXI in 2025, noting the department has at times been down to single-digit officers and that its detective division was closed. The borough’s official site lists the Wilkinsburg Police Department at 605 Ross Avenue and notes that officers handle local calls while partnering with county resources for major investigations. That setup shapes how serious incidents like this one are handled between local officers and county partners.
Charges and next steps
According to WTAE, Goudy was taken for evaluation and is facing attempted murder and aggravated assault charges. Prosecutors are expected to review the criminal complaint and any evidence gathered by investigators as the case moves through the county court system.
