Today, Dallas Love Field was clear with temperatures sitting at roughly 50°F. From there, the mercury will rocket up this weekend, with highs near 78°F and into the low 80s tomorrow and Sunday, before a strong cold front barrels through late Sunday and sends readings tumbling into the 30s by Monday morning.
Sunny And Warm Through Sunday
Plenty of sun and a steady south wind will push afternoon highs into the upper 70s today, around 83°F tomorrow, and near 86°F on Sunday. Winds during the day should generally run 5-20 mph, with some gusts locally reaching 30-40 mph. The western side of the Metroplex can expect the warmest numbers, where mixing will be strongest. Forecast timing and wind details are laid out in the NWS Fort Worth forecast discussion.
Strong Cold Front Arrives Sunday Night
Late next Sunday, March 15, a sharp cold front is expected to surge south through the area and flip winds around to the north during the night. Behind the front, north-northwest winds are forecast to blow at 15-25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph, while lows drop quickly to around 35°F by Monday morning. The quick wind shift means temperatures and conditions could swing dramatically in just a few hours, especially overnight.
What This Means For Your Weekend
Plan to secure patio furniture and other lightweight outdoor items before Sunday afternoon, as the stronger winds move in, and watch for gusty conditions if you have late-night plans or a Monday morning commute. Temperatures will swing fast, so it is entirely possible to spend next Sunday afternoon in shorts and be reaching for a coat before sunrise next Monday. Keep an eye on local alerts and be ready for a possible Wind Advisory if gusts climb toward advisory levels.
