A Saturday afternoon along Kapahulu Avenue turned violent when a man was stabbed just before 4 p.m. on the 100 block of the busy Waikiki corridor, according to Honolulu police. His condition has not been released, and investigators have not publicly identified a suspect. Witnesses described a person with long hair wearing a black hat, black hoodie and black pants, and carrying a black bag.
As reported by Hawaii News Now, the Honolulu Police Department confirmed officers responded to the scene just before 4 p.m. Saturday. The outlet said it reached out to HPD for additional details and that the investigation remains active.
Where It Happened
The 100 block of Kapahulu Avenue sits at the edge of Waikiki’s hotel and dining corridor and feeds into Kalākaua Avenue, which keeps the area busy in the late afternoon and evening. The attack comes amid a string of recent violent incidents across Honolulu. A recent Downtown Honolulu Morning Turns Bloody report documented back to back stabbings in late February.
Police Response
Honolulu police say they are investigating and have not released additional information about the victim’s condition or any arrests connected to the case. The Honolulu Police Department lists emergency 911 and a non emergency contact number at (808) 529-3111 on its website, and anyone with information or video that could help is urged to contact authorities.
Past incidents in Waikiki have periodically put a spotlight on safety in the resort district, including a stabbing reported last May that left a man in serious condition, according to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. For now, detectives are continuing to canvass the Kapahulu corridor as they piece together witness accounts and evidence.
