Downtown Ypsilanti is about to get a serious boost in the smoothie-and-juice department. A new spot called Downtown Ypsi Nutrition, from the owner of Haggerty Nutrition Cafe, is moving into 56 N. Huron Street. The sign is already up, crews are working inside, and the owner is eyeing an April opening once the final health department sign-offs come through. The shop is set to bring the same loaded teas, healthy shakes and flavored carbonated waters that have built a following at the Van Buren Township location.
Owner Sebtein Aljaihawi told What Now Detroit that he had his eye on the Ypsilanti address for about four months after initially trying to land a site in Ann Arbor. According to the outlet, this will be the brand’s second shop, and construction and interior build-out are already in progress.
“I’m confident in the product we’re making,” Aljaihawi said to What Now Detroit. The original shop in Van Buren Township at 9830 Haggerty Road, which opened in late 2025, serves loaded tea flavors like blackberry and citrus with peach-mango, along with Herbalife shakes in options such as chocolate-covered banana and mocha caramel latte. Many of those same flavors are expected to show up on the downtown menu.
Juice Bar Joins N. Huron’s Artsy Stretch
The new Downtown Ypsi Nutrition storefront lands on the east side of N. Huron Street, near Riverside Arts Center and tucked among a cluster of independent retailers that give the block its arts-corridor vibe. Riverside Arts Center at 76 N. Huron draws steady gallery-goers and theater audiences, while nearby spots like Ypsi Art Supply and Twisted Things Boutique help keep weekend foot traffic flowing past the block.
What Will Be On The Menu
Downtown Ypsi Nutrition is expected to follow the Van Buren concept fairly closely. Think quick, customizable drinks with a focus on “loaded teas” - iced tea bases stacked with fruit, syrups and flavor infusions - alongside protein shakes and fizzy flavored waters. Aljaihawi has said he plans to listen closely to customer suggestions, so the downtown lineup could shift over time as regulars develop favorites.
Anyone tracking the opening timeline, hours or specific drink offerings will want to keep an eye on the business’s Facebook presence. Downtown Ypsi Nutrition on Facebook is sharing photos and pre-opening peeks informed by the Van Buren location and will be updated as the April debut date firms up.
