The idea is to create a single destination for tournament play, everyday recreation and community gatherings, set among trees, trails and green space. City officials say the campus is meant to serve local athletes and families while also drawing regional and national events, and they previewed the concept Tuesday in a short video while confirming they will bring in an outside operator to run and develop the site. The effort ties into a larger push to link nearby Darree Fields and surrounding parkland into a cohesive sports hub.

A reel posted by the city on Tuesday lays out a vision for a mixed-use athletic campus that, in the city's words, "will attract major tournaments from across the country" while still serving residents' day-to-day needs, according to City of Dublin. Where The Site Came From
The campus concept builds on Dublin's mid-2024 purchase of roughly 243 acres that included SportsOhio, Shepherd Excavating and Carter Farms. Audit records show the acquisition was authorized in July 2024 as part of a roughly $44 million transaction, according to Ohio Auditor. “SportsOhio is an important part of Dublin’s recreational landscape and a growing regional destination that supports our sports tourism economy,” City Manager Megan O’Callaghan said in the city's announcement.
