A Durham woman walked into a local hospital Tuesday night with a gunshot wound after what police say was a shooting on Danube Lane. Officers said her injuries were non-life-threatening, and detectives have launched an investigation. As of now, police have not announced any arrests or named any suspects.
Authorities were alerted just before 8 p.m., after the woman showed up at the hospital. Investigators believe the shooting happened on the 3600 block of Danube Lane in north Durham, near Old Oxford Road, according to CBS17. Detectives are working to confirm exactly where the gunfire broke out and who was involved. The case remains active.
Danube Lane Keeps Turning Up In Shooting Reports
The Danube Lane corridor has been the scene of several shootings in recent months and years, including a January 11, 2025 incident that left a 15-year-old dead at the Magnolia Pointe Apartments. That deadly episode, along with other incidents, drew heightened scrutiny from city leaders and police, as reported by WRAL.
Police Seek Tips As Shooting Investigation Continues
Durham detectives say the investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact the Durham Police Department. The city's contact page lists non-emergency numbers and ways to submit tips online at DurhamNC.gov, and CBS17 has updated its coverage as new details emerged.
