
A stretch of East Lake Mead Boulevard turned into a crime scene Sunday morning after Las Vegas police found a person dead in the 5000 block near North Nellis Boulevard. Homicide detectives roped off the area and went door to door at nearby homes and businesses while crime scene investigators collected evidence. As of now, no arrests have been announced, and authorities have not released the victim’s name.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the incident unfolded in the 5000 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard near North Nellis Boulevard, and police say the case remains very much active. Detectives are tracking down potential witnesses and are particularly interested in any surveillance or cellphone video that might shed light on what happened.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Section has taken over the investigation and continued processing the scene into the afternoon, according to department guidance.
