An infant found unresponsive Friday in an east Las Vegas Valley home was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances of the child’s death.
Officers and medical personnel responded to a medical call in the 5700 block of White Cap Street, near East Charleston Boulevard and North Sloan Lane, where the infant was discovered and transported for emergency care. The child did not survive, and authorities have opened an investigation into what happened.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the call came in Friday and detectives remained at the scene as investigators canvassed the area for witnesses. The outlet reported that the information was drawn from a Metro Police Department release that did not include the infant’s age or identity.

Metro’s public information office did not immediately provide additional details beyond what was included in the initial release. The department’s press page, which lists recent statements and media contacts, remains the primary reference point for official updates.
Anyone with information that could assist investigators is urged to contact Metro’s tip lines or call 702-828-3111, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
How Officials Track Child Fatality Cases
The Division of Child and Family Services posts public-disclosure notices for Clark County child fatalities and often provides follow-up on cases that move through multiple agencies. Recent public-disclosure listings show several child-fatality notices in the county in recent months, underscoring that investigations typically involve police, the coroner and state child-welfare officials, according to Nevada DCFS.
So far, police have not identified any suspects or announced charges, and officials have not released the infant’s identity. The investigation remains active as detectives continue their work and authorities again urge anyone with information to reach out to Metro.
