Police in Fairview found an 83-year-old woman and her 59-year-old son dead inside a home in the 1300 block of Shinnecock Court yesterday after a welfare check, turning a routine call into a grim discovery. Officers forced their way into the house after an employer raised concerns, and investigators say the causes of death are still unknown. The Fairview Police Department has not yet released the victims' names while the investigation continues.
Welfare check turned fatal
The Fairview Police Department told FOX 4 that officers had gone to the same residence last week for a separate welfare check. At that time, they were told the mother and son were not in immediate danger. According to police, officers left after being assured the pair would seek counseling through their church. They returned on Tuesday when an employer reported renewed concerns, forced entry into the home, found both residents deceased, and opened an active investigation.
Town resources and how to reach police
The Town of Fairview's official site lists Nixle and the municipal contact line as the town's channels for urgent notices and provides a non-emergency number for police, according to the Town of Fairview. Residents who may have information related to this case are asked to reach out to authorities through those channels.
Investigation continuing
Fairview police say the causes of death remain unknown and that detectives are continuing their probe. The names of the deceased have not been released. As reported by FOX 4, authorities are investigating and have asked anyone with information to contact the department.
