A man was hospitalized after gunfire erupted near East 65th Street and Fleet Avenue on Cleveland’s east side Monday, Cleveland police said. Emergency crews rushed him from the scene, and officers secured the area while detectives began collecting evidence. Officials have not identified a suspect.
According to WKYC, Cleveland police responded to the block, and investigators were seen canvassing the neighborhood while multiple emergency vehicles lined the street, as shown in the station’s video from the scene.
As reported by News 5 Cleveland, the shooting happened about 4 p.m. near East 61st Street and Fleet Avenue. The station said a man described as roughly 40 years old was taken from the scene by Cleveland EMS to a nearby hospital in critical condition, and no arrests had been announced.

The intersection sits in the Broadway–Slavic Village corridor on the city’s east side, a compact mix of homes and small businesses that has seen focused law-enforcement activity in recent weeks. Earlier this month, reports that federal and local agencies were active along parts of East 65th surfaced, which residents say may explain the heavy presence at the scene.

The Cleveland Division of Police says the shooting remains under investigation and has not released additional details, according to WKYC. Detectives are reviewing witness accounts and any available video as they pursue leads.
