Milwaukee Weather, Fog This Morning, Mild Weekend Warmup

Milwaukee woke up under a gray blanket Thursday, March 19, with mostly cloudy skies, temperatures in the mid-30s and a few light pre-dawn showers already in the rearview mirror. Patchy fog is hanging around low-lying areas and along the lakeshore through daybreak, and drivers north of I-94 are getting the trickiest deal, with brief freezing drizzle possible that could lay a thin glaze on untreated roads and sidewalks, according to the National Weather Service.

Morning Commute

There is a slight chance of rain before 7 a.m., then clouds will give way to partly sunny skies and a high near 42°F. Southerly winds will stay light, around 0 to 5 mph, so it will be more damp than blustery. The catch is on bridges and untreated surfaces, which could be slick where that freezing drizzle shows up. If you are heading north of I-94 this morning, it is worth building in a few extra minutes and checking the latest timing and any advisories from the National Weather Service.

Afternoon And Weekend Outlook

Temperatures are set to climb into the weekend, with highs near 51°F on Friday and around 55°F on Saturday. A lake breeze could still keep the immediate shoreline cooler even as inland spots warm up. Friday stays mostly cloudy to partly sunny, and a cold front with gustier north winds is possible on Sunday, which would drag cooler air back into the region and leave conditions a bit drier. There are no watches or warnings in effect for the metro area at this time.

On the water, mariners should keep an eye on increasing southerly winds Saturday into Saturday night and the possibility of nearshore waves and winds approaching Small Craft Advisory levels through Monday morning.
