Charlotte wakes up warm and gray today, with mostly cloudy skies, mild temperatures around 50°F, and patchy fog expected before 7 a.m. That fog should lift by mid-morning, giving way to mostly sunny skies and a spring-like afternoon high near 74°F. Southwest breezes will stay light, around 1–7 mph, so it should feel calm enough for errands, dog walks, and lunch on the go.
Afternoon Heat And A Springlike Stretch
The warm-up does not stop today. Temperatures climb through the rest of the week, with a high near 77°F tomorrow, and highs pushing into the upper 70s to low 80s on Friday and Saturday. Overnight lows stay mild, generally in the mid-50s to low-60s. According to the National Weather Service, those readings run about 10–20 degrees above normal for early March and could come close to daily record highs.
Weekend: Warm, Then Watch The Skies
Rain is not much of a player in the middle of the week but starts to sneak back into the picture later on. There is a slight chance of showers after noon on Friday, with better odds by Saturday afternoon and Sunday is the main trouble spot, with the forecast calling for about a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Storms late Sunday into next Monday, could be strong in places, so timing will matter if you are banking on outdoor plans. Most days should still offer dry stretches, but it is smart to have a backup plan for weekend events.
Foggy Commute, Breezy Patio
First on the list this morning are low clouds and patchy fog, especially in low-lying neighborhoods and near the foothills. Visibility could briefly drop on the drive, so giving yourself a little extra time before the morning rush will not hurt. Forecasters are also flagging gusts up to about 18 mph tomorrow, which is just enough reason to secure any loose patio furniture before it goes visiting the neighbors. If you are headed to weekend games or parades, bring a rain layer for Sunday and Monday and check for forecast updates before you head out.
We first highlighted this early warm-up in our first warm-up alert. This update reflects the latest thinking through early next week and what to watch for as showers and storms move in. We will post another update if timing or rain chances shift, especially in that Sunday to Monday window.
