What started as a night of bar-hopping for two cousins in Warren ended in a terrifying gunpoint attack early Sunday, March 8, when a man allegedly forced one woman from her car, beat her, and left his own vehicle abandoned on a quiet stretch of Belvedere Avenue, according to police.
Woman Says She Was Shadowed By A Black Buick
According to WFMJ, officers were called to the 500 block of Belvedere Avenue just before 7:30 a.m. Police say the woman reported that she and her cousin were at one bar when a man in a black Buick sedan began trailing them to a second bar, then kept following as they left to head home.
Alleged Carjacking And Beating
As WKRC reports, police say the Buick eventually pulled in front of the cousins' car, cutting them off. A suspect then got out holding a gun, ordered the cousin out of the vehicle, and allegedly struck her with the firearm. According to the station, the man also punched her and dragged her by the hair back toward his Buick before taking off and leaving the sedan behind. The car was later towed from the scene.
No Arrests So Far, Family Alarmed
The woman told officers she believes the suspect lives in Youngstown and said she is deeply worried about her cousin's safety. As of now, investigators have not publicly announced any arrests or filed charges in the case, according to WFMJ.
Investigation Underway
Warren police say the case remains under active investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact the department, WKRC reports. Police have not released a suspect's name or any details about a possible motive.
