Where it happened
The corner of Bauman Road and Sunnyside sits inside or near the Sunnyside neighborhood, which has seen several shootings in recent months. Coverage of a fatal Clover Street shooting in November 2025 and a deadly block-party shooting reported by Click2Houston last November underline persistent public-safety concerns. Neighbors and community groups have for years pushed for increased patrols and engagement in the area.
Police response and how to help
The Houston Police Department's Homicide Division is leading the investigation, and officials have not yet released the victim's identity. Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS, according to the Houston Police Department.
This is an active and developing investigation, and this report will be updated as authorities release more information.
