A 58-year-old man was left injured after a daylight hammer attack inside a 42nd Street building in Brooklyn, and police say the suspect is still on the loose.
According to authorities, the victim was struck in the head during a verbal dispute last Thursday at about 4:13 p.m. The assault happened inside a building within the boundaries of the NYPD's 66th Precinct, and the attacker took off on foot.
Detectives are now asking for help from anyone who might recognize the person they are looking for.
On Wednesday, NYPD Crime Stoppers shared a "WANTED FOR AN ASSAULT" alert on X, posting photos and a short description of the person of interest. The post lists the time and location of the attack and urges anyone with information to come forward, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers.

Police have pinpointed the assault to 1226 42nd Street, inside the area covered by the NYPD's 66th Precinct. That command says it serves Borough Park, Midwood and Kensington, among other neighborhoods, per the 66th Precinct page.
The notice describes a single attacker who ran from the scene and remains wanted by investigators.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS or the Spanish line at 1-888-57-PISTA, or to submit a tip online through the Crime Stoppers website. The wanted alert includes images and a brief description of the person of interest.
Police say tips can be submitted confidentially and may be eligible for a reward.
Detectives are continuing to investigate, and as of now, no arrest has been announced. The NYPD is urging anyone who recognizes the person in the images to contact Crime Stoppers so investigators can follow up.
