Hilton is planting its Curio Collection flag in Hawai‘i for the first time, with a planned 210-room resort in the Hōkūala community on Kaua‘i. The property, to be called Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi, is set to perch on a bluff with ocean and mountain views, a signature restaurant, an outdoor pool and quick access to Kalapaki Beach. Hilton says the company-managed resort is expected to start welcoming guests in late 2026.
What Hilton announced
Hilton described Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi as a 210-room, new-build Curio Collection hotel slated to open in fall 2026 and named Jon Itoga as general manager, according to Hilton. The company’s release says the property is expected to feature about 2,000 square feet of indoor meeting space and roughly 10,000 square feet of outdoor event space aimed at destination weddings and intimate corporate gatherings.
"Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi is a natural addition to our growing Curio Collection, embodying the individuality, sense of place and authentic moments that define the brand," Brooke Thomas, the brand leader for Curio Collection, said in the statement.
Behind the development
The project has been winding its way through financing and approvals for more than a year. In mid-2024, Civitas Capital Group closed a $150 million senior construction loan to support a 210-room Curio property at Hōkūala, according to Civitas Capital Group. That financing was arranged for Silverwest Hawaii Holdings, the joint venture tied to Silverwest Hotels, which is listed as the property’s owner in developer filings.
Where it sits and who it serves
Hale Hōkūala Kauaʻi will be part of the larger Hōkūala Resort community near Lihue and is described as within walking distance of Kalapaki Beach, according to local listings. It is also about two miles from Lihue Airport, offering quick access to island attractions, according to Hilton.
The hotel is set to connect with the Ocean Course at Hōkūala, a Jack Nicklaus signature course that anchors the resort community and is operated through the Hokuala golf operation, per The Ocean Course at Hōkūala.
Booking and what's next
The hotel’s booking page lists a November 2026 opening and includes the property address, though reservations are not yet available; those details also appeared in travel coverage, according to The Points Guy. For travelers and local businesses, the Curio property is expected to add more upscale inventory and event capacity to Kaua‘i’s south shore, a shift that could matter for wedding planners and meeting organizers keeping a close eye on room blocks and venue options, that outlet reported.
Why it matters
The arrival of a branded Curio property marks a notable expansion for Hilton in Hawai‘i and adds another option for visitors seeking boutique-style resort experiences on the island, according to Hawai‘i Public Radio. As developers continue to chase resort investments, local reporting indicates the project will further position Hōkūala as a hub for golf, weddings and destination meetings.
