Hollywood Casino Columbus is going all in on the city’s west side this summer, with a new 150,000-square-foot hotel tower slated to open June 12. The seven-story addition, attached directly to the Georgesville Road casino, will add roughly 203 guest rooms and about 100 permanent jobs as Penn Entertainment finishes its multi-year push to turn the property into a full-blown regional entertainment hub.

What the hotel will offer

Penn’s 150,000-square-foot tower is set to pack in 183 standard rooms and 20 luxury suites, plus a full-service restaurant and bar called The Hill Eatery & Lounge, conference rooms, a fitness center and an outdoor seating terrace, according to a company press release cited by StreetInsider. The same release notes that guests can start booking rooms April 15 and that the casino plans an outdoor festival and concert to celebrate the June 12 grand opening.

Design and rooms

Architect and design firm Marnell Companies lists the project as a 203-room hotel at 200 Georgesville Road, complete with renderings and construction details on its project page. The firm identifies the site off I-270 near the Hilltop neighborhood and describes the development as currently under construction.

Jobs, community agreement and timeline

The hotel is being built under a Community Benefits Agreement with the Columbus/Central Ohio Building and Construction Trades Council. The trades council says the deal will deliver apprenticeship opportunities and local hiring targets and is expected to generate roughly 200 construction jobs and about 100 permanent positions, according to local reporting and union statements on the project. To get those roles filled before opening day, Hollywood Casino Columbus has scheduled hotel hiring events on March 27 and April 10, per the company release.

A bigger casino campus

Open since 2012, Hollywood Casino Columbus already runs one of the region’s largest gaming floors. The property features more than 1,700 slot machines, table games, what operators describe as the largest poker room in the state, and over 16,000 square feet of banquet and event space, as outlined by The Columbus Dispatch. The new hotel is designed to plug directly into that footprint and keep more guests on-site.

Booking and what comes next

Guests will be able to book rooms beginning April 15 through the property’s website, and Penn says the hotel will open with a public celebration on June 12. Once the tower is up and running, the Georgesville Road corridor is expected to see more visitors sticking around for dining, meetings and entertainment rather than just a quick spin on the gaming floor.
