Houston woke up to clear skies and comfortable temps in the low 60s early Friday, March 27, but the pleasant start is just the warmup. The city is expected to climb into the mid-80s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies and a light southerly breeze.
Afternoon Heat
Look for a high near 86°F by late afternoon with mostly sunny conditions and south winds around 5 mph. Humidity will drop through the day, dipping into the 40% range by late afternoon, so it will feel hot but not swampy. If you have outdoor errands or workouts, morning and evening will be the most comfortable windows, and it is a good idea to bring water if you plan to be active outside.
Late-Night Front And Marine Outlook
According to the National Weather Service, a shallow cold front will slide through late Friday night into early Saturday (March 27–28), knocking Saturday’s highs back into the mid-70s with northeast winds of 10–15 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.
Offshore waters east of Freeport could see 20–25 kt winds with isolated gusts near 30 kt, so a Small Craft Advisory is possible, and boaters should check the latest updates before heading out. Conditions are expected to improve Saturday night as winds ease, with temperatures rising again into the low to mid-80s by early next week.
