A routine Saturday drive on the Katy Freeway turned deadly when 44-year-old Kyle Springer was hit and killed while trying to cross the main westbound lanes, according to Houston police. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Springer dead at the scene near the 10100 block of the freeway, and the crash briefly shut down westbound traffic while officers and medics worked the site.
According to MyTexasDaily, a white BMW X3 struck Springer as he attempted to cross the westbound main lanes. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sgt. R. Dallas and Officer J. Rincon identified the driver as a 46-year-old man, who stayed at the scene, showed no signs of intoxication, and was questioned and released.
