Last Sunday in Commerce Township, it turned tense inside Intimate Ideas, an adult retail shop, when a man walked in and robbed the 19-year-old clerk at knifepoint at about 6:20 p.m., investigators say. The employee, who was alone in the store at the time, was not injured and handed over cash before the suspect took off.

According to deputies, the man bolted from the scene in what appeared to be a black 2015- or 2016-model Ford Focus. Detectives described him as roughly 5-foot-9, with dark facial hair and baggy clothing.

As reported by The Oakland Press, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has now released the description and is asking the public to help track the suspect down. Tipsters are urged to contact Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP, where a reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest, according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives Turn To the Public

"Detectives are seeking the public's help identifying a robbery suspect," the sheriff's office said, according to The Oakland Press. Authorities are asking anyone who might have surveillance or dash-cam footage from the area on Feb. 22, or who noticed a black Ford Focus in the vicinity around that time, to come forward.

Investigators noted there were no customers inside the store during the robbery and emphasized again that the young clerk was not hurt, even if the encounter was undoubtedly frightening.

How To Share a Tip

Anyone with information can reach Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-SPEAK-UP or submit a tip online at 1800speakup.org. Detectives say even a brief dash-cam clip, a partial license plate, or an image from a nearby business camera could be enough to help them identify the suspect and his vehicle.
