The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help to find 37-year-old Rawan Louis Rayyan, who has been missing since Jan. 24. Family members say she was last seen around 9 a.m. in the 14000 block of Cartela Drive in La Mirada, and that she has a mental health disorder, which has heightened their concern for her safety.
According to Canyon News, Rayyan is described as a white woman, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Relatives believe she may be headed toward Venice Beach, Santa Monica, or Covina.
How to help
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau/Missing Persons Unit. The department's phone directory lists the unit at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or through the P3 Tips mobile app. If the situation appears urgent or life-threatening, call 911.
What a Silver Alert Means
California’s Silver Alert program, used for older adults or individuals with cognitive impairments who are believed to be at risk, can be activated only when specific criteria are met, the California Highway Patrol explains. If someone recognizes a person named in a Silver Alert, CHP advises calling 911 and sharing the person’s location and any vehicle details, if known.
Rayyan’s relatives are asking people in Venice Beach, Santa Monica, and Covina to keep an eye out, check their neighborhoods, and report any possible sightings or tips to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. This story will be updated as officials release new information.
