The Town of Carmel Police Department said it received multiple 911 calls around 5:45 p.m. reporting that a Jeep had gone through the ice on Lake Mahopac. Units from the Mahopac Falls Fire Department, Carmel police and EMS responded to the lake and worked together to reach the vehicle and extricate the driver.
The Jeep became fully submerged after breaking through the ice, and rescuers removed the woman from the vehicle before she was transported to the hospital. She was listed in critical condition Monday night, according to News 12 Westchester.
