A typically quiet Union City apartment complex turned into an active crime scene late Thursday, as officers and detectives responded to a reported shooting, neighbors said. Residents told a Channel 2 reporter that a person had been shot but survived, although how badly the victim was hurt was not immediately clear. Police remained at the complex into the night while investigators canvassed the area.
What we know so far
According to WSB-TV, neighbors told Channel 2’s Courtney Francisco that someone was shot but did not die from their injuries. The station reported that police had not yet confirmed what led to their response, and the seriousness of the victim’s wounds remained unclear. As of that report, investigators had not provided any information about possible suspects.
Recent local context
The shooting comes on the heels of a separate officer-involved incident in January that prompted a Georgia Bureau of Investigation inquiry. Per a GBI press release, agents were called after officers responded to gunfire at an apartment on Jan. 4, 2026, and the GBI opened a probe into that encounter. Hoodline previously covered that case in its report on the earlier officer involved shooting.
