What started as a routine midday call turned into a homicide investigation in Auburn's Lea Hill neighborhood on Friday, after officers found a woman with at least one gunshot wound in the 30300 block of 125th Court SE. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and detectives stayed on the quiet cul-de-sac into the afternoon as they worked the case.
What investigators said
Officers were called around noon for reports of a shooting and arrived to find the woman with at least one gunshot wound. She died at the scene, according to KOMO News. Police told KOMO that detectives were expected to remain in the neighborhood for several hours as they collected evidence, and that early details suggest the killing may be linked to a domestic violence situation.
Arrest and public safety
The Auburn Police Department said a male suspect was taken into custody, and investigators do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the wider public, as reported by KIRO 7. Detectives continued to process the home and surrounding area, and officials have not yet released the identities of the victim or the person being held.
What we still don't know
Authorities have not said how the two were connected, and they have not released names as they work to notify family. As of Friday afternoon, charges had not been announced, according to KOMO News. Investigators are asking anyone who may have information or video from the area to contact the Auburn Police Department as the case moves forward.
