Gunfire tore through two north Brunswick neighborhoods on Sunday, rattling residents and leaving homes and vehicles scarred by bullets, according to police. Officers say the incidents are connected and spent hours canvassing both scenes into the evening.
According to First Coast News, the Brunswick Police Department said the first shooting unfolded around 2 p.m. at the Brooklyn Homes North apartment complex on Stonewall Street. The second was reported later near the 2400 block of Cleburne Street. Officers told reporters they found extensive damage to several buildings and vehicles but did not locate anyone with gunshot wounds. The department added that it has identified persons of interest and is actively pursuing those leads.
Police Ask For Tips
So far, no arrests have been made. The Brunswick Police Department is asking anyone who saw or recorded anything suspicious to contact Detective Melissa Howell. Suspect Vehicles Taken For Processing
Detectives recovered two vehicles they believe may be tied to the case: a white Ford Escape and a dark-colored Buick LaCrosse. Both were found parked and were towed so they could be processed for evidence, the department told reporters. Crime-scene technicians remained on site, checking buildings and vehicles for ballistic evidence while officers maintained a presence in the area. Police have not yet released descriptions of any individuals they are seeking.
