A tip about a suspected Daytona Beach drug house turned into an early-morning raid Friday, when Volusia County deputies hit a home on Madison Avenue and walked out with three arrests, a haul of cocaine, several illegal guns, and about $10,000 in cash. One suspect tried to bolt out the back, but deputies say he did not make it far before being taken into custody a few houses away.
Search Warrant Served At 939 Madison Avenue
Deputies executed a search warrant at 939 Madison Avenue around 8:45 a.m., where they say they interrupted an alleged drug sale in progress, according to CBS12. The station reports that 53-year-old customer Charlie Damon allegedly "threw" a bag of cocaine at 47-year-old Bobby Johnson when the deal went sideways, while 27-year-old Kelson Ammanuel Kelson sprinted out the back door and was stopped nearby.
Drugs, Guns And Cash Recovered
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says detectives recovered roughly 831 grams of cocaine during the search and seized weapons from both the Madison Avenue house and a storage unit. Among the firearms, deputies report finding one that had been reported stolen and another with its serial number removed. The agency also says around $10,000 in cash was collected as evidence, according to the sheriff's office news page.
Bookings And Alleged Offenses
Court records reviewed by CBS12 show that Johnson and Damon were booked into the Volusia County jail on counts of trafficking in cocaine in the 28–200 gram range. Kelson faces a longer list of allegations that the station reports include trafficking in cocaine, hydrocodone, and heroin, alleged manufacture of cocaine, possession of cannabis over 20 grams, obstruction, possession of drug paraphernalia, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
Part Of A Larger Enforcement Push
Deputies say this latest bust fits into an ongoing effort to crack down on drug trafficking in Volusia County. In November 2025, the sheriff's Operation RoadRunner helped dismantle what was described as a multi-jurisdiction trafficking ring, leading to numerous arrests along with significant drug and gun seizures, according to reporting by WFTV.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says the investigation into the Madison Avenue operation is still active, with detectives following up on additional leads.
