
A 23-year-old man was shot in the leg early Sunday morning in Borough Park, after a masked gunman opened fire at the corner of 61st Street and Ninth Avenue around 4 a.m., according to police. The victim was hit in the left thigh and taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition.
According to News 12 New York, the masked suspect bolted from the scene and was last seen running along 61st Street. Emergency responders rushed the victim to Maimonides Medical Center, and investigators say the gunman remains at large. As of Sunday morning, police had not announced any arrests or charges.
Investigation underway
Police described the attacker only as a masked man last seen heading on 61st Street, and detectives were canvassing the area and reviewing available surveillance footage in an effort to track him down. The victim’s hospital was identified as Maimonides Medical Center; the hospital's main campus is located at Maimonides Medical Center at 4802 10th Avenue in Brooklyn. Investigators say they have not released a motive or the victim's name as the inquiry continues.
