A late-night robbery attempt on a Paris Street sidewalk in East Boston ended with a man in the hospital and a 15-year-old under arrest, after Boston police say two masked suspects tried to steal the victim’s belongings, including his scooter.

Officers say the attack happened near 11 Paris Street and left the victim with injuries that were not considered life threatening.

Police account of the attack

According to the Boston Police Department, officers assigned to District A-7 responded at about 10:01 p.m. Tuesday to a radio call for an assault in progress in the area of 11 Paris Street.

When officers arrived, they found a male victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim told police he had been approached by two unknown males wearing ski masks and that the suspects demanded his personal belongings, including his scooter.

Scene and evidence recovered

A witness who saw the altercation got out of his vehicle to intervene, removed a knife from one of the suspects, and discarded it, while a second witness reported seeing the suspects make jabbing motions toward the victim’s body, the department wrote on Facebook.

Officers later found two knives wrapped together in duct tape and a cell phone on the handicap ramp at the intersection of Sumner Street and Paris Street. Police say one suspect then returned to the scene claiming he was looking for his phone. During booking, officers also recovered a ski mask.

Arrest and charges

Police arrested a 15-year-old juvenile male of Boston who was charged with Aggravated Assault and Armed and Masked Robbery, according to the Boston Police Department. The suspect is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk County Juvenile Court.
