A late-night fight at a Miramar gas station near the corner of Pembroke Road and DeSoto Drive escalated into gunfire Monday, leaving one person injured and taken to the hospital, according to police. Officers briefly shut down the station and nearby businesses while detectives combed the scene and collected evidence. Miramar police said the dispute ramped up quickly, and the investigation remains active.
What police say
As reported by CBS News Miami, officers said a confrontation near the pumps turned into a shooting, and the wounded person was transported to a local hospital for treatment. A brief station clip showed first responders swarming the area, but there was no public word on suspects or a possible motive.
Nearby pattern of gas-station violence
The shooting adds to a troubling run of violence near the same intersection. On Jan. 6 a deadly shootout at a Sunoco station at Pembroke and DeSoto left 19-year-old Christian Corea dead and two others wounded, local outlets reported. NBC 6 South Florida covered that earlier case, and Hoodline later published a local roundup of the Jan. 6 shooting.
Police response and tips
Miramar police said detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses as they work to figure out what started Monday night's fight. In the Jan. 6 investigation an arrest was later made, CBS News Miami reported, and authorities previously urged anyone with information to contact Miramar Police or Broward Crime Stoppers. Local 10 listed the tip line as 954-493-8477.
