Recovery at Calvert Vaux Park
Police said a 911 caller reported spotting a body near Bay 44th Street and Shore Parkway inside Calvert Vaux Park. Harbor Unit officers responded to the call, recovered the man from the rocks and carried him away on a stretcher, as reported by the New York Post. According to police, the victim showed “no obvious signs of trauma” when EMS arrived and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Medical examiner to determine cause
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is set to perform an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death, the New York Post reports. Detectives said they were canvassing the shoreline for witnesses and checking for any surveillance footage in the area as the investigation moves forward.
