PHX Cat Cafe is spreading its whiskers north, launching a second location in north Phoenix with a grand opening set for March 28. The new outpost, dubbed PHX Cat Cafe North, will stick to the group’s “adoption-first” formula, offering a cat lounge alongside a small coffee counter. Organizers say the expansion is all about boosting the nonprofit’s ability to get more cats into homes across the Valley.
As reported by 12News, the grand opening will run March 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 4330 W. Union Hills Drive, where every cat on-site will be available for adoption. The outlet also noted that the nonprofit believes the added location could help it double the number of cats it places around the Phoenix area.
On its own site, PHX Cat Cafe says it has facilitated more than 215 adoptions between fall 2020 and fall 2023, describing its model as a lounge experience supported by a supplemental coffee program. The organization also promotes recurring community events, including yoga sessions, paint nights and themed gatherings, which it says are designed to bring potential adopters and resident cats together in a relaxed setting.
How the expansion feeds local rescue work
12News reported that many of the adoptable cats are pulled from local colonies or brought in by trappers who partner with the nonprofit, which staff say makes a second location a practical way to move rescues into permanent homes more quickly. The north Phoenix space is expected to host additional adoption events and reach residents who might not make the trip to the original Roosevelt Row lounge.
PHX Cat Cafe's website also notes that lounge admissions and donations help pay for the animals’ medical care and daily needs, and the group says it will keep its downtown Roosevelt Row location open alongside the new north Phoenix outpost. For current hours, adoption listings and reservation details, the cafe directs visitors to the “visit” and “adopt” sections of its site.
