A routine Tuesday drive in north Phoenix turned devastating when a crash at Dove Valley Road and 27th Avenue left a young boy in critical condition and sent two other children and an adult man to local hospitals. Phoenix firefighters had to perform an extrication at the scene to pull at least one person from the wreckage.
Crash details
Phoenix Fire crews arrived just after 5:15 p.m., and a boy was quickly identified as being in critical condition, while a girl and an adult male were listed as stable, according to 12News. The outlet reported that two children and a man were transported to nearby hospitals and that rescuers had to extricate at least one patient from the damaged vehicle.
Where this fits locally
The crash adds to a growing list of serious collisions in north Phoenix. In February, a three-vehicle pileup near 35th Avenue and Cactus Road sent six people to hospitals, including four children, in what was described as north Phoenix crash chaos. Local safety advocates have repeatedly pointed to busy arterial roads and speeding as recurring dangers for drivers and families in the area.
Investigation underway
Phoenix police are working to determine what led to Tuesday evening's collision and had not released additional details or any names at the time of the initial reports, 12News reported. Officials say the investigation remains active, with more information expected as it becomes available.
