A 19-year-old North Salt Lake man is facing a slate of felony charges after prosecutors say he had sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl multiple times late last year.
Court documents identify the suspect as Isaac Eliazer Hernandez Casas and list several felony counts tied to the alleged abuse, according to charging paperwork.
What the charging documents say
Prosecutors in South Ogden say Hernandez Casas touched the girl on at least three occasions between August 2025 and January. The filings state the girl "started shaking because she was scared" and note that investigators reportedly found several messages on her phone that they describe as sexual in nature, as reported by KSL.
Charges prosecutors filed
According to the charges, Hernandez Casas faces three counts of sexual abuse of a child, along with a felony enticement count and additional charges for enticing a minor and distributing material harmful to a minor. Prosecutors are pursuing those counts as second- and third-degree felonies in the case, as reported by KSL.
What those counts mean under Utah law
Utah law makes it a crime to entice a minor, including through the use of the internet or text messages, and allows that conduct to be charged as a felony depending on what is alleged. The state’s sexual-abuse statutes cover inappropriate touching or taking indecent liberties with a child younger than 14 and outline how those offenses are graded and punished.
You can read the enticement statute and the sexual-abuse statute in the Utah Code and the Utah Code for full legal details.
Next steps in the case
The case is still in its early stages. Initial public reports did not list an arraignment date or booking status. As with any criminal case, Hernandez Casas is presumed innocent unless and until prosecutors prove the charges in court.
Resources for victims
