Maman, the New York-born bakery known for its blue-and-white toile and cult-favorite Nutty Chocolate Chip Cookie, is heading for Dallas' Design District. The brand is set to grab a storefront at The Seam, with an opening targeted for sometime between late 2026 and early 2027. This Design District move will follow Maman's Texas debut at Preston Center, slated for November 2025.
According to CultureMap Dallas, a press release states that Maman will open at 1444 Oak Lawn Ave and that the cafe's debut is expected to line up with The Seam's rollout in that same late-2026-to-early-2027 window.
What to expect at the cafe
As outlined by Maman, the daytime menu leans hard into coffee and pastries, with espresso drinks, croissants and kouign-maman alongside made-to-order lunch items. Dallas Observer reports that the Dallas locations will also feature city-specific creations, including a cheesy brisket croissant roll and a salted caramel pecan pie roll.
The Seam's reboot and Maman's spot
The Seam is a multi-million-dollar redevelopment by Asana Partners that will convert a seven-building, roughly 160,000-square-foot site at 1444 Oak Lawn Ave into an open-air retail and dining hub with around 45 storefronts, patios and tree-lined walkways. The Seam's press materials and project partners note that Adolfson & Peterson Construction has been tapped to lead the renovation, a sign that tenant build-outs are in motion.
Why it matters for Dallas dining
Maman's steady Dallas expansion, kicked off by a November 2025 Preston Center opening that drew long lines, highlights the demand for national bakery-cafe brands in the city, according to The Dallas Morning News. Local reporting and industry coverage say developers are using curated centers like The Seam to stitch more daytime foot traffic and food options into the Design District's showroom-heavy core, a trend noted by Dallas Innovates.
No firm calendar beyond the late-2026-to-early-2027 timeframe has been posted publicly. As CultureMap Dallas reports, Maman says the Design District cafe will launch alongside The Seam's debut. Permits, tenant-improvement filings and construction updates will ultimately pin down a more precise opening date.
