Motorcycle Risks on City Streets
Motorcyclist deaths have climbed in recent years nationwide. In 2023, 6,335 motorcyclists were killed across the country, the highest number on record, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Riders face a much higher fatality rate per mile than people in passenger vehicles, and safety experts frequently cite speed, impairment and minimal protection as key factors when crashes turn deadly.
Investigation Underway
Police have not released additional details about what caused the Verree Road crash, and it is not yet clear whether any charges will be filed. Investigators remained at the scene Sunday, according to 6abc. This story will be updated if officials or Jefferson Health provide new information.
