Clear skies over Oklahoma City are teaming up with an early warmup on Monday, March 30, 2026. Temperatures were already in the mid-60s this morning at Will Rogers World Airport (KOKC) and are expected to climb into the mid-80s by late afternoon. South-southwest winds will strengthen through the day, which could turn outdoor work and the late day commute into a windy grind.
Afternoon Gusts Move In
A Wind Advisory is in effect Monday, March 30, 2026, from 9 AM to 9 PM CDT for much of central Oklahoma, calling for south winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. Those stronger gusts can blow around unsecured items, knock down small limbs and make driving tricky for high profile vehicles. The National Weather Service in Norman has the full advisory and is urging residents to use extra care.
Fire Danger Cranks Up Out West
Warm, dry air combined with the gusty return flow is raising fire weather concerns across parts of northwest and western Oklahoma, where humidity is expected to drop into the teens and 20s. A Red Flag Warning covers the driest areas into the evening, so officials say to avoid any outdoor burning and keep heavy equipment away from dry grass. Neighbors in rural parts of the county are advised to secure equipment and have a plan ready in case a small grass fire starts.
Storm Chances Build Through Midweek
A cold front will move into the region later this week, bringing a chance of afternoon showers Tuesday and a greater risk of storms Wednesday and Wednesday night. Some of those storms could be strong to severe, with damaging winds and hail, and isolated tornadoes are possible. The most active period looks to be late Wednesday into Wednesday night, when heavier rain could deliver some much needed totals in a few spots. How To Plan Your Day
Secure patio furniture, trash cans, tarps and any other loose yard items before the afternoon breeze ramps up, and delay outdoor burning or construction work that could produce sparks. If you are traveling tonight, expect gusty crosswinds and build in extra time for your drive, and if the power goes out, contact your utility and keep backup devices charged. Stay weather aware through Wednesday if you have outdoor plans as the midweek storm chances move in.
