A 23-year-old man was found fatally shot Tuesday in an alley near the Palmdale International Shopping Mall, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said. Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, and the man was pronounced dead there. The Los Angeles County medical examiner later identified him as 23-year-old Roberto Visar.
Investigation Under Way
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Palmdale Station were called at about 12:12 p.m. to an alley near the 1000 block of East Palmdale Boulevard and 10th Street East, where they found Visar suffering from gunshot wounds, according to MyNewsLA. Video from the scene shows a man lying face-up while deputies put up yellow crime tape, and a distraught woman sobbing nearby, the outlet reported.
Sheriff’s detectives remained at the scene on Wednesday as investigators with the department continued working to piece together what led to the killing and who might be responsible.
Violence In The Antelope Valley
The shooting is the latest violent incident in the Antelope Valley this month and follows another deadly shooting near a Palmdale hotel earlier in March, according to CBS Los Angeles. Local officials say they are reviewing video and witness accounts as they work to determine a motive and identify any possible suspects.
